How to enable passwordless authentication on Gmail
with the Winkeo-A FIDO2 or Winkeo-C FIDO2 USB security key?

1) Security key registration

Before connecting to your Google account with your Winkeo-A FIDO2 or Winkeo-C FIDO2 security key, you must first associate the key with Google. This enrollment phase is necessary.

Step 1

Go to https://account.google.com to access and manage your Google account. On the “Welcome” page, click on Security.

Step 2

Once on the Security page provided your Two-Step Verification is enabled, click on Passkeys and security keys.

Step 3

Then click on Create a passkey (you may first need to confirm your identity by re-entering your login information).

Step 4

Click on Use another deviceIgnore the message “A passkey can't be created on this device.” As we want to use a security key as the authentication method, it is possible to create an access key directly on the Winkeo FIDO2 security key, following Google's suggestion to to create one on another device than your computer.

Step 5

Choose where to save your passkey. Click on Security keywhich will be the device where your passkey will be saved.

Step 6

Then setup your security key by following the instructions in the pop-up windows, as follows:

Your passkey is created and you can now use your security key to sign in to “google.com”. To edit your passkey name, click the pencil icon, enter the name you want to give your passkey and save it.

2) Sign in using your security key Winkeo-A FIDO2 or Winkeo-C FIDO2

Step 2

Insert your security key into your device's USB port.

Step 4

Next, touch your security key to confirm it's you.

You are connected to your Google account!
